Don Ceccarelli
Don Ceccarelli, NC PE, CFM

Mecklenburg County
Program Manager

How long have you been a member of SESWA (years)?
14 years.

Have you served SESWA in the past? If so, how?
I have served as a presenter at SESWA conferences.

What abilities and attributes can you bring to the Board?
I have written and modified stormwater ordinances over my career and I have led stakeholders groups for improving local governmental processes. Additionally, I review proposed federal and state legislation with an eye to how they could impact (impacts to water quality and to level of service and cost of service) our local stormwater programs and help translate that for local elected officials.

What background and experience do you have in the stormwater industry?
I have stormwater management experience from both the private sector (13 years) and the public sector (17 years) during my career. I have helped develop and enforce various stormwater ordinances including Post-Construction, Watershed, Soil and Erosion Control, Drainage System, and Floodplain and manage teams that implement those ordinances within Mecklenburg County.

Why do you want to serve on the Board of Directors?
I spend a lot of time thinking about striking a reasonable balance between the interests of private developers and local regulators when it comes to stormwater management and my hope is that serving on the Board of Directors allows me to learn from others (outside of North Carolina) that can improve my local program. In addition, I would hope that my experience could help others as well.
